Dynamic population of multiexcitation subradiant states in incoherently excited atomic arrays

چکیده

The deterministic generation of multiexcitation subradiant states proves to be challenging. Here, we present a viable path towards their transient in finite-sized ordered arrays dipole-dipole coupled quantum emitters, based on incoherent driving the atomic ensemble. In particular, show that maximal coupling long-lived is achieved if only half atoms are initially excited. We characterize nature resulting by calculating dynamic fluorescence spectrum emitted light. Finally, elucidate role coherent interactions during decay process sufficiently dense arrays, which result coherently driven radiation burst leads subsequent reduction chances prepare states.

Atomic and molecular intracules for excited states.

Intracules in position space, momentum space and phase space have been calculated for low-lying excited states of the He atom, Be atom, formaldehyde and butadiene. The phase-space intracules (Wigner intracules) provide significantly more information than the position- and momentum-space intracules, particularly for the Be atom. Exchange effects are investigated through the differences between c...

Storing Light with Subradiant Correlations in Arrays of Atoms.

We show how strong light-mediated resonant dipole-dipole interactions between atoms can be utilized in a control and storage of light. The method is based on a high-fidelity preparation of a collective atomic excitation in a single correlated subradiant eigenmode in a lattice. We demonstrate how a simple phenomenological model captures the qualitative features of the dynamics and sharp transmis...

Many-Body Subradiant Excitations in Metamaterial Arrays: Experiment and Theory.

Subradiant excitations, originally predicted by Dicke, have posed a long-standing challenge in physics owing to their weak radiative coupling to environment. Here we engineer massive coherently driven classical subradiance in planar metamaterial arrays as a spatially extended eigenmode comprising over 1000 metamolecules. By comparing the near- and far-field response in large-scale numerical sim...

Ionization suppression of excited atomic states beyond the stabilization regime

A two-dimensional model atom is employed to study the ionization behavior of initially excited atomic states in highly-frequent intense laser pulses beyond the dipole approximation. An additional regime of ionization suppression is found at laser intensities where the stabilization effect is expected to break down. The appearance of this effect is due to a strong coupling of the initial wave fu...

Spontaneous decay of excited atomic states near a carbon nanotube.

The spontaneous decay process of an excited atom placed inside or outside a carbon nanotube is analyzed. Calculations have been performed for various achiral nanotubes. The effect of the nanotube surface is shown to increase the atomic spontaneous decay rate by up to 6 orders of magnitude compared with that of the same atom in vacuum. This increase is associated with nonradiative decay via surf...
